The year 2009 has come and gone, and with it a lot of changes.  New president, bailouts, declining economy, etc., but Shag has stayed the same.  The dance, the music, and the fellowship of the people make it seem like one big family.

Before I joined the Choo Choo Shag Club, I kept seeing and hearing things about “Beach Music” at the Chattanooga Billiards Club East.  I kept thinking, “What is Beach Music?”

Thanks to the efforts of Rose Kellar and the ones who helped put on the dance at the Dalton Trade and Convention Center,  (in 2003), I was finally introduced to “Beach Music”.  I heard the music, saw the people dancing, smiling, and having a good time.  I was hooked.  Been a fan ever since!  I said to myself, I’ll be back.  For the music if nothing else!  Where do these guys get this great music!”

That was about seven years ago.  Since then I have been to SOS a number of times and many “Away” Parties, as we like to call events at other clubs.  My enjoyment of the dance just keeps growing.

Someone told me that dancing keeps you young.  I truly believe that.  So, keep dancing, smiling, and enjoy yourself on the dance floor.

Warmest Regards
