While preparing this article, there is so much I want to say.  We ended the year 2011 with a great Christmas Party, and I extend many thanks to you all for coming out.  I would also like to thank the Elk’s Lodge and its staff for all their help these past few months.  We look forward to working together in the years to come.  It is so nice to have a great place to dance and fellowship with each other.  It was great seeing friends from out-of-town and others who have not been in awhile.  We hope to see everyone back in this coming year.

For 2012 I want us to have a broad base of participation in our club.  Each officer, director, and instructor will be enlisting the help of as many members as possible.  I encourage you, when you submit your membership renewal, to take time to read the committee opportunities and sign up for at least one position of responsibility.  If you are asked to do a job, please help and remember that our success is based on the willingness of each member to do whatever it takes to get the job done, working together as a family and team.  Please come out and join us for our Re-Up-Party, March 10th.

We are getting new and more regular members now, and it is going to be up to our old members to make them feel part of our club so they will want to return.  We also have three in-house DJs that work hard, bringing us music each week, so please give them, as well as our guest DJs, your support.

This new year we are looking forward to Shag Tracks.  Rose Kellar works hard every year and does the best job for our club.  Please continue to show her your appreciation and support so we can make it even better – if that’s possible.  Rose works with the Shriners, now the Best Western, as well as the DJs.  It takes a lot of time and energy to plan this party, but we have the best one around.

Please come out on Thursday nights and meet your friends, hear some great beach music, do some dancing, and bring a friend to introduce them to Shag Dancing and great people.

Jim and Billie Whitaker had a dream to start a Shag Club in Chattanooga to let people know about the great sounds of Myrtle Beach Music.  I am very proud to be one of the founding members of the Choo Choo Shag Club along with Jim and Billie.  There are some very special people who have played an important role in the history of our club and getting it started, but it’s the members who keep it going, so let’s keep on dancing and making new friends.

Warmest Regards  Judy Aubrey, President 2012
