Club dance night is every Thursday night at 7:30 pm in the Tropicana Room. The Tropicana Room is a 3000 sq. ft. room, a perfect fit for groups up to 150 people. There is an in room cash bar, a large wooden dance floor and a sound stage just right for our DeeJays to set up.

Don retired in 1998 as an Investigator with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He has four children and seven grandchildren. Don is a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and does volunteer work as Volunteers In Medicine. That is a facility providing free medical care to low income persons who do not have medical insurance. He loves dancing and listening to nearly all types of music, reading and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Don has been a member of the Choo Choo Shag Club for seven years and is an active member of CCSC and is always ready to volunteer his services. He always helps putting the dance floor down and taking it up for our parties. Don Assists in helping with dance lessons any time he can, has been instrumental in bringing many new members into the club. Make sure you thank Don for his hard work, he's the guy always with a smile on his face.

Larry and Judy have been married for 36 years, they have three children, two sons and a daughter and they have eight grandchildren. Larry is self-employed in sales of fabricating equipment, plus he has some rental property on the side. Larry and Judy have been members of the Choo Choo Shag Club for six years, Judy has served on the board as Vice-President of Social for three years. Larry is serving on the Board this year as our club treasurer. Larry and Judy were introduced to the shag club by Jim and Juanita Ward, and they are a real asset to CCSC and volunteer every time help is needed. Be sure and thank them when you see them.

Walt has been in the insurance business in Dalton for 38 years, he specializes in property and casualty (commercial) insurance. I retired in 2005 after 30 years as a teacher and school media specialist. We have a daughter and a son, both are married and we have a beautiful granddaughter, Kaitlyn age 26 months. She likes music and dancing too, imagine that! Walt likes working around the farm and Bonnie does some gardening and reading. We joined the club in 1995 after our youngest went off to college. I had seen an ad in the Dalton paper advertising shag lessons. We answered the and took our first lessons from Laura and Rodney. The club had just finished their first Shag Tracks, we didn't know a soul when we took the lessons, but Jim Whitaker and Laura in particular were so nice to make us feel welcome. We learned to dance and eventually learned everybody's name. I think the first out of town party we went to was the Geechee Blast in Charleston in 1997 or 98 where again we didn't know a soul. That's where we figured out we needed to expand or dance moves. Since that first Geechee Blast, we have been to a gazillion out of town parties and put a lot of miles on car and our bodies. Now, instead of not knowing a soul, we know almost everybody either name or by face. It's "old home week" everywhere we go, we treasure the experience of being involved in shag and all the wonderful friends we have made.

Dick and Rose met 46 years ago when they attended a Sock Hop at a High School dance. Dick was looking for a dance partner and he choose Rose to enter the contest. They won the contest and it has been history ever since. Dick and Rose have been happily married for 44 years and dancing is still their passion. Dick and Rose have three grown children, Pam, Vicki, Richard, a wonderful son inlaw Brian and six wonderful grandson. Their grandsons keeps Dick and Rose up on fashion, trends and music and yes has put a few gray hairs on their heads. Dick and Rose have been members of the Choo Choo Shag Club for over twelve years, and Rose is a past club President and has served as an officer for the club for most of those years. Rose has served as the Shag Tracks Chairperson for the past four years. She and Dick love to party with all their shag friends and are always looking forward to the next dance or SOS event. Dick and Rose own their own mail order business, the R & R Fiberglass Co. They manufacture and supply fiberglass Street Rod and Antique auto parts all over the world. They also have Vacation Rental Properties in Daytona Beach Florida and North Myrtle Beach South Carolina, they can be rented on a weekly or monthly basis.

On June 20th, John and I will celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. We have two children, a son and a daughter. Our daughter Deona Wood lives in Birmingham, AL and she has two wonderful daughters ages, 12 and 17. Our son, John W. III lives in Wenatchee, WA, he has on son who is 9 years old. We are proud to be charter members of the Choo Choo Shag Club. When the club was being formed, I saw an ad in the newspaper saying if you had an interest in forming a Shag Club to be at the Rivermont Golf and Country Club on Sunday night. I showed it to John and said, "This is where I want to be Sunday night"! We immediately knew it was for us! We love the club, we love the members, and we are happy to say that all the members enjoy fellowship just like family. It is my personal commitment to be there for everyone in time of need or FUN!
